I ended up using a 50/50 mixture of each and it worked very well. It sucked into the wood completely leaving the wood dry to touch.

I live in AK, so the environmental laws may be more stringent than elsewhere. Just look around ANY of the oil fields and you'll see just how VERY IMPORTANT protecting that watershed is!!! WebI would not suggest to use motor oil. First i doubt it is soil friendly, second if the wood is not enough dry, layer of oil will stop it from drying and it will end up with a mold.
