Bohr 2nd postulate
WebNiels Bohr's second postulate of the Atomic Model states that the electron revolves in specific orbits in which the electron's angular momentum is an integral multiple of $\large\frac{h}{2π}$. Since De Broglie later explained it, how did Bohr arrive at it earlier? WebBohr’s 2nd postulate tells us that electrons orbit the nucleus only in those orbits for which the angular momentum is an integral multiple of nh/2 (pi). However the question arises is why? why should an electron only orbit a nucleus depending on the angular momentum of the orbit. The answer to that question was answerd by de broglie.

WebBohr model is applicable only for single electron species like H, He +, Li 2+ etc.Bohr model is based on particle nature of electron. The important postulates on which Bohr’s Model is based are the following: 1. Atom has a nucleus where all protons and neutrons are present. WebMay 17, 2024 · (a) Using de Broglie’s hypothesis, explain with the help of a suitable diagram, Bohr’s second postulate of quantization of energy levels in a hydrogen atom. (b) The ground state energy of hydrogen atom is –13.6eV. What are the kinetic and potential energies of the electron in this state? cbse class-12 1 Answer 0 votes
WebBohrs second postulate defines these stable orbits. This postulate states that the electron revolves around the nucleus only in those orbits for which the angular momentum is some integral multiple of h/2 where h is the Plancks constant ( =6.6×10 34Js ). Thus the angular momentum (L) of the orbiting electron is quantised. That is L= 2πnh WebPostulates of Bohr’s Theory (i) ... momentum of revolving electron is an integral multiple of c m where h is the planck’s constant. h 2r According to Bohr's second postulate h nh mvrn = n & 2rrn = mv 2r h h But mv = = m (By de Broglie hypothesis) p ∴ 2πrn = nλ ...

WebSolution Verified by Toppr Correct options are A) , B) and C) Postulates of Bohr’s Model of an atom are: 1. In an atom, electrons (negatively charged) revolve around the positively charged nucleus in a definite circular path called orbits or shells. 2. Each orbit or shell has fixed energy and these circular orbits are known as orbital shells. 3.
WebFirst Postulate: Electron revolves round the nucleus in discrete circular orbits called stationary orbits without emission of radiant energy. These orbits are called stable orbits or non-radiating orbits.
